Held the 2nd Monday of every Month at the Durango Public Library (located at 1900 E. 3rd Avenue, Durango, Colorado), 5:30 -7:30 p.m.

The Pro Se (Do It Yourself) Divorce & Custody Clinic is a presentation regarding Colorado family law- including dissolution of marriage (divorce), dissolution of a civil union and allocation of parental responsibilities (aka child custody).

Do-It-Yourself Family Law Workshop

Held the 3rd Tuesday of every month, 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM. This is for
low-income individuals who qualify for our program. To apply, call 247-0266
or go to the Colorado Legal Services website for an online application at
www.coloradolegalservices.org.

At this free workshop, an attorney will help you fill out any family law
form(s) that are of a simple nature, for instance, the Petition of
Dissolution of Marriage or a Motion for Temporary Orders. (To attend this
workshop we first recommend that you attend the clinic above.)

Employee Rights in Colorado – Tuesday, November 29th, 2016

 

Do you have questions about your rights as an employee? Wondering what it means when an employer says that you’re a work-at-will employee? Are you not getting paid? Do you have questions about workers  compensation or how much of your wages can be garnished due to a judgment?

Do it Yourself Bankruptcy Workshop – Monday, December 5th, 2016

Colorado Legal Services and Southwest Bar Volunteer Legal Aid will present a
free workshop for filing a Chapter 7 (personal) bankruptcy. The workshop
will walk participants through every step of the bankruptcy filing process
and will provide all of the documents necessary to file for bankruptcy.
After participants finish completing their paperwork on their own Colorado
Legal Services will also be available for a follow up consultation to review
documents individually before participants file for bankruptcy and provide
advice as needed if there are any complex issues.

The clinic will be held on Monday, December 5th from 9:30 a.m. to 12:00 Noon.
This clinic is for low-income debtors who qualify. You can apply by phone

office located at 835 E. 2nd Avenue, Suite 300, in Durango, CO. Space is
limited.

Tenant Rights Presentation – Wednesday, November 30, 2016

This presentation is for advocates and local agencies working with low income tenants.** What can be done if a rental needs repairs? What is an eviction? Can the landlord lock a tenant out? Can the landlord enter a rental without the tenant’s permission? What are the tenant’s rights?

Free Legal Resource Fair – Wednesday, February 15th, 2017 

Have legal questions? The 6th Judicial District Access to Justice Committee
in conjunction with the Southwest Colorado Bar Association and the Southwest Bar Volunteer Legal Aid/ Colorado Legal Services will be sponsoring a Legal Resources Fair that is FREE AND OPEN TO THE PUBLIC on February 15th2017 from 4:00 – 6:00 pm at the La Plata County Fairgrounds Exhibit Hall.

There will be attorneys available to answer questions about many areas of the law including landlord/tenant, employment law, family law, estate planning, immigration, power of attorney, wills/probate, living wills/advanced directives/ DNR, contracts, debt/ bankruptcy, criminal/juvenile, veteran’s issues and more.
